Four time olympic champion de bruijn retires and joins Toulouse-Lille
Lille are expected to add to their ranks by announcing they have accepted a two-year contract offer for Belgian international De Bruijn.
Toulouse have been working hard to re-sign the 34-year-old.
De Bruijn has started just one of Toulouse’s five games since his move from Werder Bremen in November and has not featured since making his debut for Belgium in March 2015.
The 27-year-old’s contract with the club expired at the end of the season and the Dutch striker now plans to find out if Toulouse will be willing to renew his deal.
He said: “Lille did it for me a lot. After three years of working hard we have decided now to renew.”
He added: “I believe we have done it at last now, I believe it is the right time for me. You talk about it because I know we have done things very well this season, very well.”
De Bruijn said Lille’s offer of €4m a season was good.
He added: “I am confident that Lille want it (to extend). I want to live here for two more years. I am 바카라happy.”
“I feel that it is the right time to retire, but if this situation does not happen, I will return to Lille as a player,” he told L’Equipe.
